Alla Prima
detail
Early impressionist artists rejected the staid and idealized work done in studios in favor of the more spontanious and lively results inspired directly by nature. They named their method "alla prima" meaning "at the first try".
Our Alla Prima necklace blends the unique colors of Colorado's high country skies and clear streams with the textures of lush prairies into an impressionistic work of wearable art. Six strands of larimar, peridot, faceted blue topaz and freshwater pearls are gathered into a rhythmic twist. But the real art is in the functional front clasp, a fine silver toggle featuring a bas-relief of delicate wormwood filaments. Antiqued to show intricate texture, the clasp displays a teal shimmer.
16 1/2" in length. Toggle is 1 3/8" X 1 3/4". One of a kind and handcrafted, of course.

"The emotions are sometimes so strong that I work without knowing it. The strokes come like speech."
